guess what thirteen dollars of my dad's money got me last night?

An extra two days in Kansas City over Christmas break.

HECK.

YES.

So here is the story...I was thinking about how when we booked our tickets to go home, the best price we could find on our optional travel dates were to come back on the 30th, which is a Sat. That would leave two extra days, since I dont' work that Monday for New Years Day. Well since I've been a bit homesick lately, I decided to at LEAST look and do some detective work to see if for some strange reason, i could find a flight that would be about the same price, including the change ticket fee, to come back either on the 31st or the 1st...

well...it was really a blessing to find a CHEAPER flight coming back on Monday the 1st than my original flight. It was 37 dollars cheaper, which meant that with the 50 dollar change fee, it would only cost 13 dollars, essentially, to stay two days longer.

So Andrew is going to come back on Sat as planned, and I am coming back to Jackson two days later. My flight leaves at 7:30 in the AM new years day. OUCH. that is the only sucky part. and the fact that I won't be flying back with my husband. But those two extra days are going to be so worth it.

I told my mom what I had found after I did all my research, and she was pretty much ...thrilled. So I called Delta and had them switch my ticket and yay! two more days.

just thought you all might want to know.

So I'll be in the KC from Dec 22nd about 9 PM until Jan 1st, early in the morning.

I hope you all come see me and that we can hang out. and that is snows...the end.

Comfort food.

I have been in a swing lately where NOTHING sounds good or tastes particularly fantastic.

But last night, I made something that is a total comfort food for me and reminds me of home and my mom's cooking and it was wonderful. I finally tasted something that was really good and really hit the spot.

Andrew brought back some meat from home in his suitcase (yes, i know, odd). It was frozen in sealed bags and stayed frozen the whole plane ride back to MS. Well, I cooked some of the pork chops last night. I coated them in egg and salt & pepper and flour and fried them in a little crisco (just enough to have them not stick).

SO GOOD. This is how my mom has always cooked them. Quick and easy. I highly recommend this if you haven't tried this way of cooking pork chops before. I cooked them on Med. or just under Medium heat. I turned them twice, I think. Don't turn them too much or the coating will be more likely to fall off.

I love comfort food!

Stupid Mississippi and this 'no snow' crap.

They're having a snow day in Kansas City.

And I'm in Jackson, MS where the high is supposed to be something like 77 today.

So I rebelled and wore a turtleneck.

I really miss Kansas City now more than I have so far. I love the snow. There is no snow here, and there won't be.

It better snow at Christmas when we're there.

I like these tee shirts

and i'll tell you why.

because its just funny.

because this is something my mom has said with me since I was wee big. this phrase made it on most of our home videos, circa the 1980s. this one is probably my favorite because of that fact.

because I do.

I already own this tee, but I like it so much, it made the list.

i would love it if my husband wore this

a nickname my husband received in high school. therefore, he should wear it. hee.

thats all for now.

this is probably the dumbest post I've ever made. you've been fair warned.

I am COMPLETELY torn up about The Bachelor. Lorenzo picked the wrong girl. I was so rooting for Sadie, but he picked Jen last night. It was really sad. I almost cried. It pretty much put me in a fowl mood for the rest of the night.

They didn't get engaged, but he gave her a big honkin engagement ring. What the heck???

Apparantly, Lorenzo and Jen were on the Regis show this morning or something, and they are still dating, but not engaged.

I wonder what Sadie has been up to since the taping of the show has been over.

I think he might be kicking himself for not picking Sadie. Wouldn't it be great if somehow he ditched Jen and got back with Sadie? I would love that.

So sad. I miss Sadie. She was a good girl.

Go away, Jen. We don't like you. And neither does Lorenzo!!!
