SONG OF THE MOMENT:
For My Love
Written by Bethany Dillon
A little background info on how I got introduced to this song:
Last night, I was hanging out with Zach. We went to Starbucks. Met up with a few more of his friends. Afterwards, we played in the parking lot/the little sitting area next to starbucks. Zach and I busted out our guitars. His friend Tara was listening to us play. Zach and I have a tendency to do a lot of Caedmon's Call and Derek Webb. Also, I had introduced the song, "Marry Me" by Ed Cash to him, and he learned it, and last night was the first time I heard him play it. So we're sitting there telling Tara about CC and DW and Ed Cash...and she didn't know who Ed Cash was...and I was like "He does a lot of producing." I knew she was into YL so I was like "Dave Barnes, Matt Wertz...he does a lot of stuff with those people." Zach and I had also done (he played and I sang) Masquerade (which CC does) and i told Tara, "Ed Cash wrote this one, too."...So we're sitting there talking about music. And shes like, "Theres this artist that you've GOT to hear, Dena...you will be HOOKED. Her name is Bethany Dillon"...So I go to her car and I listen to it...and its OFF THE HOOK. I'm all "This is awesome. I've got to hook you up with some Sandra McCracken if you love this."...I was amazed by this girl's voice quality, the lyrics, the music, the instrumentals, all the elements of the creativity are incredible.
So today, I'm searching for Bethany Dillon's website...I find it, go and check some stuff out. Get this. First of all, I find out that her producer is Ed Cash...LOL. How ironic. And he co wrote some songs on her record/played on some songs/sings background vocals on some songs. Weird Element number two: She cowrote a song with Dave Barnes. LOL....Weird Element number three: she co wrote a song with Josh Moore (Caedmons Call)and he plays on the record, too. NO WONDER I DIG THIS CHICK'S MUSIC!!!
A couple more cool things...she likes Sara Groves (good times). And she toured with Shane and Shane for a while. (Zach and I saw Shane and Shane together in concert a couple months ago). Basically, I'm getting a kick at all these pieces of music/musicians I like fitting together. Its that whole Six degrees of separation thing.
So, to make a long story wrapped up, I heard this song in Tara's car last night and was like...."....this is incredible. I have to learn this song." I was completely dumbfounded by the lyrics. amazing. incredible. Everyone MUST go check this girl out (shes only fifteen...no way). Read about her, read her lyrics, listen to her songs (you can listen to all of them on her site). GO here: http://www.bethanydillon.com Be amazed. Thank me later.
without further adeau, i give you the song lyrics...
Walk towards me
I want to hear
The heavens singing over you
When you breathe
And look at me
I want to be captured by you
Gaze into my eyes
And let me know you’d fight
Thousands, for my love
Slip your hand in mine
Ask me to dance with you tonight
Just ask me for my love
I want to hide
What’s deep in my eyes
I’m scared to be known by you
But when I turn my head
And see you there
I want to be pursued
A dream I won’t wake from
A story that will never end
The ground your feet walk on
Let me be there, let me be there
