*EDIT/ADD 8/27&*
Lets talk about paranoias & odd & unnatural fears...I'd like to hear about everyone's
some of mine:
My teeth falling out...sometimes I check to see if they're loose. If I bump a glass against my front teeth, I panic that I've either chipped half my tooth off or knocked it completely loose and its going to fall out of my head. I also dream about my teeth falling out, often.
I'm afraid of the dark. For example, when I get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, I'll often sprint from the bathroom to my bedroom, back into bed, because I'm afraid something might "get me" in the hallway.
Electrical shock: sometimes we don't leave all our appliances, etc plugged in. If I go to plug in our toaster, for example, which sits no where close to water, I either check the prongs for moisture, or half-expect a shock wave to hit me when I plug it in.
Tire blow out: Sometimes when I'm driving, if something just doesn't feel right about the road texture, I'm afraid that something has punctured my tire and I begin getting a little panicy and I start rehersing what my plan of action should be if my car were to suddenly jerk into another lane.
*On the way home from work last night, I remembered this one...
Cars coming into my lane: The lanes here in MS are really really narrow. And everyone here is a bad driver. Everyone. I am CONSTANTLY scared to death that people are getting too close to my lane, and that they're crossing over the line, and that they're going to hit me. I am so freaked out about this all the time. Sometimes I sound my horn when I get scared. My passengers look at me like I've gone mad when I seemingly just randomly blow my horn. (This isn't just a MS thing, tho. I did it in KC too. Just not as often.)
thats all i can think of right now. i might add more later.
what are yours?

i totally do the tire thing. i'm crazy-paranoid about my tires.
if i hit even the slightest debris or whatever in the road...i'm just waiting for the flat.
totally with you there.
TOTALLY.
also...i'm really weird about bugs. well, not so much bugs as spiders. definitely spiders. especially after i've just taken a shower...and i have a loose hair on my leg or something. my first thought is not "hmm...i shed ALL the damn. time. i bet that's all it is." oh no. my first thought?
"AAAAAHHHH. HOLY. CRAP. I *KNOW* THERE IS A SPIDER ON MY LEG. but i don't want to look. because...well...SICK. but if i don't look...then it'll climb and climb. and a spider on my leg is decidedly less vomit-worthy than a spider who makes its way to the DANGER ZONE. AHHHHHHHH!! IT'LL LAY EGGS!! just like that RL Stine story! but with my bojamba instead of my cheek. (i mean...i know they put a disclaimer with the story...but with *ME*...well, it could happen to *ME*.) and then i'll have to go to the OB. OR THE EMERGENCY ROOM! WHERE I KNOW THE NURSES!! WHAT WILL THEY THINK?! OH. MY. DAMN."
LOL. kate...that cracked me up. :)
I think I have pretty much all the same ones...
teeth: Not so much afraid of them falling out, but I do go through phases where I have dreams about them falling out...I looked this up in my dream book once but I don't remember what it means, I can check again though
dark: Yup, definitely afraid of the dark. I have to have some sort of light on if I'm sleeping alone, usually I just sleep with the tv on and muted. Also because sleeping with a turned off tv creeps me out. Seen "The Ring" too many times. And I never quite outgrew the whole creatures under the bed and in the closet fear. I attribute this to having a seriously overactive imagination.
Okay not so much with the electrical shock this, I tend to be a bit careless with appliances.
Tire blow out: Yes, and also things in general going wrong with my car. My old car constantly had something go wrong with it, and I had a tire blowout once, so I still get freaked out over any slightly odd noise or feeling.
Cars coming into my lane: Definitely my biggest fear, hands down. Although this isn't an irrational fear for me, because I got into a serious car accident back in May because someone DID come into my lane, I swerved, and hit the guy in the next lane over. Oh and this was on the highway going like 65mph. My car got thrown into the barrier on the left and then bounced off (it felt like it was going to flip over) and was thrown all the way back across 4 highway lines and ended up the right shoulder. Then it shuddered and died. I was okay though besides a massive headache from hitting my head on the window and some allover soreness.
As for my own fears...my granddad totally 100% believed in aliens, and told me scary stories about them when I was a kid...like weird stuff that happened to him while he was flying fighter planes during WWII. Crazy stuff. I definitely didn't sleep for like 3 days after seeing "Signs," especially because that night as I was dozing off I had one of those still-half-awake dreams that one of the aliens was standing at the FOOT OF MY BED. So I live under constant fear of impending hostile alien invasion. Okay not really, but it's one of my biggest fears.
Wow I think my comment is longer than your blog.

kate, you made me realize I am also crazy paranoid about loose hairs being bugs. its usally on my arms, tho. like if a hair has come out and its on my arm, i really think a bug is crawling on me, and i do this crazy-awesome jerky move and start swatting at myself...and then I see the hair.
haha.
LMAO. Kate, your post made me laugh my ass off. Seriously. HAHAHA! "OH.MY.DAMN" I LOVE IT.
